Today is
New for 2009
August 22, 2009

Today is the last Saturday before school starts for the children.  I'm not
sure about Wil, but K is pretty anxious about getting started.  And Dan,
he's gearing up.  It's worked out nicely with him living with my sister and
mom during the week.  He gets spoiled and I can work the long hours that
my job is needing me to.  This June my nephew Christopher came to visit
us for two weeks, with out Mom and Dad.  He is an awesome kid.  He
was here for 4th of July and that was very cool.  We are all looking forward
to the next time when he can come for a longer visit.

Kairstin spent the summer inline skating Monday through Friday at Skate
Station with her friends, bowling and working her fingers to the bone with
texting.  Wil spent his summer riding his go kart, going to Skate Station
(though not as often as his sister) and bowling.  Dan spent his summer
spending a lot of time with Grammie and Aunt Melissa.  I hired his aide
from school to come over this summer and spend time with him.  It gave
my mom and sister a break.  Her name is Janna and she played cards
with him, walked with my sister to take Dan and the rest of the gang to the
bowling alley and made crafts with him.  The bowling alley gives one free
game for every A, E, and O on a report card; all the kids ended up with
over 20 free games for the summer.  Then K's school had coupons for
skate station where you could get in free Monday through Friday, 12 pm -
5 pm; that was so awesome!

Kairstin will be going to the same school for 8th grade, Dan also will be at
the same school as last year with the same teacher, and Wil is going into
6th grade at the junior high near home.  Quin is going into 9th grade and
Shelby is going into 4th.

K and Will bowl on leagues.  K bowled the fall league on Tuesday Teens
and Will bowled Saturday mornings with the Sharpshooters league.  She
earned $50 in scholarship money. At the end of Kairstin's season her
league took a trip to Blizzard Beach (a Disney Waterpark); that was in
June.  Will's league doesn't go anywhere; however, they give out awards
and Will's team placed 2nd over all.

In June they went to the Florida State USBC tournament in South Florida.
They didn't win any scholarships but they bowled very well.  The last day of
our three day trip we spent at Typhoon Lagoon (another Disney
Waterpark); it was a wonderful way to let the kids know that they worked
hard and now it was time to have fun.  Every year their coach works in a
day at an amusment park as a reward for the children.

Then this summer they bowled on the same league, the Tuesday Teens.
Kairstin's team placed 7th and they each got $25 in scholarships; they
may have placed higher but one of her team mates earned a trip to
Australia with the Ambassador program.  Will's team placed 3rd and also
got $25 in scholarships.  At the end of this league they both earned a trip
to Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia.  For this trip Melissa, Quin and
Shelby also went.  When the new fall league starts next month K and Will
will be bowling the Tuesday Teens and Quin and Shelby are going to bowl
Saturday's with the Sharpshooters.  This will be Quin and Shelby's first
time bowling on a league.

The rest of us are hanging in there.  I've added some new pictures from
the summer.  Enjoy!

Love,
Shelly
