Welcome to my page. This page is all about Me! I first want to tell you a bit about my fun
time at Special Olympics. I began my quest in September 2004. I started at the Area
Level bowling at Bowl America near my home. This was a field trip outing sponsored by
Special Olympics. I did really well and was able to go on to District.
This event was held October 9, 2004 in Ormond Beach, Florida. Besides my chauffer
Mom; my sister K, Aunt Melissa, cousins Quin and Shelby, and Mr. Chris (my personal
care attendant) all went to support me. We had an Awesome time. I can't recall what I
bowled, but I did super well. Lunch and bowling was free. Can't beat that. After it was all
over I got to choose a trophy from the counter. My mom and sister picked one out for me
and it is pretty big. Mom is going to try and get it engraved for me.
Then, two weeks later, Mom got a call from my school. They wanted to know if I would
go on to State Championships and represent my area. Out of 400 athletes, only 28 got
invitations to go. Of course mom said yes. So on November 5th, mom, dad, K and I
headed down to Bradenton, Florida for a weekend of bowling. The Olympic Committee
paid for our room, food, and fun the whole weekend. Wil stayed at home so he could do
"Scouting for Food" for the community. It was put on by our Pack. He is such a dedicated
Cub Scout, thanks to mom.
Anyhow. Back to me. On Friday afternoon we arrived at our hotel. After checking in we
chilled out until dinner time. Dinner was okay but the Opening Ceremony was great.
Saturday was a long day. We had to report to the alley at 8 am for check in. Finally after
bowling 3 long games and waiting 30 minutes for awards, we got to leave. The time, 2 pm.
At about this time I became a Silver Medalist at the Special Olympics Florida Fall Classic.
I wish I could say it was a dream come true, but I am very proud (and protective) of my
medal. We left Bradenton on Sunday, but first we ate at the Golden Corral with the other
athletes. It was our Breakfast for Champions.
With no further adieu, I hope you enjoy re-living my advenure through these photos.
